MDA – Fields of activity

The duty of a Medical Documentation Assistant – an MDA – is to ensure a smooth flow of information. They mostly work in hospitals. Here they are the contact person for managerial staff and doctors. Depending on the workplace they may have contact with patients and, for example, representatives of health insurances.

An MDA records and works out the regularly incoming medical Data and makes them available again if needed. In the field of patient admission and patient administration they compile the medical records and archive them.

Besides that an MDA systemizes, tags and encrypts data and information. Creating interfaces, forms and documentation is also part of the medical documentary information management.

The MDAs also help with creating and presenting medical statistics. Other very versatile tasks can be found in other fields of this job, for example in the pharmaceutical industry. Here the MDAs work for example on clinical surveys in the framework of testing medicine, creating and administrating databases or training of other employees in computing.
